BRINGING IT TO YOU
Brighton Hip Hop Festival now exists as a ‘not for profit’ organisation to celebrate the richness, strength and diversity of Hip Hop culture and recognise it’s significance within the city of Brighton & Hove, the south east and nationally.
The ambitions of the Brighton Hip Hop Festival are strong and come from a dedicated team deliver BHHF events and activities throughout the year outside the main Festival programme.
BHHF’s core ambitions are:
- To celebrate the history and heritage of Hip Hop Culture in the UK.
- To promote established UK artists and support new ones.
- To promote, produce and support music, film, arts and community events.
- To bring musicians, artists, creative groups and individuals together to raise awareness and share new work.
- To create partnerships with other music groups, organisations and individuals.
- Raise the profile of BHHF through publicity, marketing networking and advocacy.
- To actively encourage the participation of local communities, particularly young people, in BHHF events, workshop and activities.
- To keep informed of key issues in Music, the Arts, Charities and groups.
- To create and maintain links with the music industry in the UK.
- To network the Hip Hop community with other artists, audiences and communities across the UK.
The main BHHF focus is over a two week period every July. We will be working across the City of Brighton & Hove with a range of partners, artists, agencies, venues, touring companies and community groups. We will be bringing to you key events such as the Live Day, UK Battlejam, Cultural Seminar, Freshstyles Film Festival, UK Graff Jam and even a Festival soundtrack CD.

Getting Involved Is Good
- Extends awareness and voice to the Hip Hop sector.
- Substantial exposure through radio, print, websites and broadsheets guaranteed.
- Support and promotion of grassroot or underground artists, labels, the Hip Hop culture and all the artforms it includes.

- To support a not-for-profit organization create new history through the arts.
The Audience
The Brighton Hip Hop Festival has an inclusive broad audience that attend events. Audience numbers depending on events ranges from 50-9500.
- 15-17 years: Young people with aspirations.
- 18-22 years: Confident of career paths.
- 23-26 years: A combination of artists, industry and public keen to learn more about Hip Hop culture in the broadest sense for their own goals.
- 27-35 years: Established in their careers and keen to network and enjoy themselves.
- 35 upwards: Attending for their enjoyment and will feedback and advocate.
Audience Figures For BHHF
These are growing annually. BHHF started out as one event showcasing 100 local artists over the course of one day, attracting approximately 2500 people. BHHF now commands audiences in their thousands depending on the individual event.
